CCrISP is a two-day, interactive course (including mandatory, pre-course eLearning) covering the practical skills and knowledge needed to look after surgical patients including those who are deteriorating or at risk of doing so.
Highly knowledgeable faculty from both surgical and anaesthetic specialties will help you develop practical, theoretical and personal skills in a safe environment so that you can assess and manage critical situations in a systematic way.
During the course participants will learn to:
- systematically and comprehensively assess critically ill surgical patients
- recognise the deteriorating patient
- identify the most at risk patients and plan to reduce their risk
- understand the subtlety and variety of critical illness presentation
- understand how to avoid complications
- recognise their role in delivering multidisciplinary care to surgical patients
- work effectively with other members of the care team
- support and communicate with patients and their relatives
CCrISP is relevant to all specialties, however, examples are predominantly taken from general surgical patients.
The course is most suitable for CT1 – CT2 trainees or equivalent SAS grades.
Surgical Care Practitioners, Advanced Nurse Practitioners and Advanced Critical Care Practitioners may also attend.
All candidates must be experienced in General Surgery at CT1 or above.
Please note that FY trainees are not eligible to attend this course.
