Following on from our Dental Cone Beam 2A Certification course, this 1-day course offers an interactive, delegate centred approach to learning and will enable attendees to maintain the safe operation and interpretation of CBCTs.
Delegates are invited to sign up for this course 3 months after attending the original CBCT 2A course to consolidate learning and address any issues which may have arisen when putting their 2A experience into practice.
Delivered by Dr Neil Heath, a Consultant Radiologist and Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology, the Dental Cone Beam 2B course will include a focused session on bone disease and their presentation on dental imaging, radiological interpretation exercises and extensive peer learning, discussion and reflection on CBCT reporting skills.

- Attendance at a previous Level 2A Certification course is required in order to complete 2B Certification.
- Delegates are encouraged to bring 1 CBCT case that they have been working on to the course for discussion. Written consent MUST be obtained from any patients whose scans will be used. They will be used only in the teaching environment during the course. Pure Dicom data sets will not drive on the day.
- The driver software used throughout this course is not compatible with Apple devices. Please note that in order to successfully participate, you will require another device, i.e. laptop, PC.
Aims of the session
- To build on CBCT reporting skills gained since the Dental Cone Beam 2A course
- Allow delegates to `trouble shoot` any CBCT reporting or CBCT radiography issues that have arisen since the first course took place
- Enable delegates to engage with their peers to help benchmark where they are in terms of their learning
- To provide delegates with additional teaching on bone diseases and how they might present radiologically to the dentist
Intended learning outcomes
At the end of the session(s) delegates will be able to:
- Analyse their imaging data and apply the finding to their baseline treatment planning and as a consequence, feel more secure in their CBCT reporting
- Recognise and understand bone disease more fully as they are seen on 2D or 3D CBCT dental imaging
- Understand how radiology reporting errors can occur and appreciate how human factors can influence this process
