The course gives hands-on refresher training for consultants and senior trainees in ENT emergencies that occur in areas outside their sub-specialty using fresh frozen cadavers. Non-consultant career grade doctors might also wish to register.
Overview
The course gives hands-on refresher training for consultants and senior trainees in ENT emergencies that occur in areas outside their sub-specialty using fresh frozen cadavers. Non-consultant career grade doctors might also wish to register.
The course will be modular covering the specific procedures noted below. Participants would be expected to cover 2 modules or all 3 if time permits.
Delegate/cadaver ratio will be 2:1
Module 1 - Rhinology
- SPA ligation
- Anterior ethmoid artery ligation
- Drainage of peri-orbital abcess
- Lateral canthotomy
- Frontal sinus trephining
Module 2 - Head and Neck
- Neck exploration targetting IJV, carotid artery, parapharyngeal/neck abcess drainage
- Tracheostomy/cricothyrotomy
Module 3 - Otology
- Cortical mastoidectomy
