Overview

Intermediate Cadaveric Hernia Masterclass is a one day in person cadaver course taking place at the Clinical Anatomy Skills Centre (CASC), based within the University of Glasgow. 

This course will focus on abdominal wall surgery and disseminating best surgical practices in hernia management. Participants will gain intermediate-level skills in hernia procedures, including open and laparoscopic techniques, as well as anatomical dissection and hernia repair methods. 

This course supports surgical and medical training curricula in abdominal wall reconstruction and general surgery, catering to the continuous professional development of surgeons. The programme includes hands-on dissection and hernia repair techniques.  

 

This course includes:  

  • Lectures on techniques / Botox (US) 

  • Step by step TAPP/TEP (inguinal) 

  • PUMP umbilical and epigastric  

  • Laparotomy and small bites closure  

  • Step by step Rives Stoppa Procedure  

  • Introduction to TAR (Posterior component separation)  

 

This course is suitable for:  

  • Junior consultant surgeons 

  • Senior surgical trainees ST 7 & 8 

 

This course is run by Mr Maciej Pawlak, Consultant General Surgeon, Golden Jubilee National Hospital 

 

The centre is located on the university campus in the West End of Glasgow.  

The closest train station from Glasgow Central or Queen Street is Partick, which is around a 15-minute walk from the centre.  

Hillhead and Kelvinbridge subway stations are both within walking distance of the university.  

There are regular buses from the city centre to University Avenue, Traveline Scotland can help you find the best route. 

Parking on or around University Avenue can be quite limited, though there is some available. If you require disabled parking, you can make a request to the Disability Services team at the University of Glasgow.
