Interested in research but find the prospect of getting started daunting? Did you know that in order to CCT in any Surgical specialty trainees must be able to demonstrate evidence of having met the relevant requirements for research.

GMC’s Generic Professional Capabilities framework outlines these as:

  1. The demonstration of evidence-based practice.
  2. Understanding how to critically appraise literature and conduct literature searches and reviews.
  3. Understanding and applying basic research principles.
  4. Understanding the basic principles of research governance and how to apply relevant ethical guidelines to research activities.

This brand new course aims to address these requirements and cover an introduction to some of these complex topics as well as a focus on common pitfalls. Topics covered include critical appraisal, collaborative research, Ethics & Governance, paper review methods and statistics. Delivered by subject experts in the field and delivered online with supporting LIVE sessions.

Access to the online material will be granted when the courses closes on 11 May 2021. All materials will need to be reviewed in advance of the LIVE session on 26 May. The live session will take place on 26 May 2021 from 13.00 - 16.00

This course is a collaboration with Women in Surgery Scotland.
